Prospective symposium attendees should register in advance. Undergraduate attendees who are planning to present a poster should submit their abstract between February 10 and March 3, 2025.
Abstract Deadline Extended to Friday March 7.
The registration link will take you to JABSOM’s REDCap system so you can complete the form.
You should look at the instructions for creating an abstract before clicking the link to the registration form. Special formatting (e.g. bold, italic) and special characters may be included by following the instructions at the bottom of this page (also on page 2 of the Instructions).
Important Note: Because abstracts require mentor approval, submissions are final. Abstracts cannot be changed after the mentor has approved. If you and your mentor agree to change the abstract, you must withdraw the abstract and submit a new one.
The Program will be displayed as web pages, so certain text formatting and symbols may not display correctly. Some tips:
- To include italicized text, you must use the HTML wrapper for italics. Italicized text must begin with <i> and end with </i>. Example, <i>this text would be in italics</i>.
- To include bold text you must use the HTML wrapper for bold. Bold text must begin with <b> and end with </b>. Example, <b>this text would be bold</b>.
- To include superscripted text you must use the HTML wrapper for superscript. Superscript text must begin with and end with . Example, this text would be superscripted.
- To include subscripted text you must use the HTML wrapper for subscript. Subscript text must begin with and end with . Example, this text would be subscripted.
- Other than the items above, HTML tags are not allowed and will not display correctly. Please do not bold or italicize your abstract title.
- Symbols and special characters should be inserted using Microsoft Word’s Insert Symbol capability. When the final document is ready, copy and paste the Word text into the online abstract form.
- Hawaiian diacritical elements (kahako and `okina) that rely on special fonts may not translate correctly. If possible, use the Insert Symbol capability to produce acceptable substitutions. For example, ō can be produced with the symbol Latin Small Letter O With Macron. Okina can be replaced with ` (Grave Accent).
- The advantage of our online system is that you will be able to check the display of your abstract immediately after it is submitted. If you notice that important elements of your abstract are not displaying correctly, send a PDF of your abstract that reflects the proper appearance to biosymp@hawaii.edu (be sure to include your Poster #). We will make every effort to help you achieve the desired results.
